Field Power Distribution Systems
Smith & Prince Ltd. has a range of three-phase power distribution equipment, including distribution of power from three 40kW generators, designed specifically for field power usage. The system provides outlets to single or three-phase auxiliary modules distributing power for all field equipment needs including hospitals, command centres, signal units and weapon systems.
The main distribution unit is manufactured from mild steel sheet with removable stand and stacking facility. Power is provided via three single-phase appliance inlets and distributed by internal connections to two three-phase 40 A socket outlets, three single-phase 40A socket outlets and three single-phase 15A socket outlets. Each socket is individually protected by a circuit breaker, while neon indicators offer visual socket status.
Balanced loads can be achieved by the use of voltmeters and ammeters connected to each phase. A rotary switching system enables the main distribution unit to provide power to the auxillary modules from one, two or three generators, offering supplies at 8/12 kW single or three-phase, 16/24 kW single or three-phase and 40 kW single or three-phase.
Power splitter units are manufactured from high quality cast aluminium with substantial protection flanges. The self-stacking auxillary modules can provide three-phase or single-phase outputs. The system at present uses pattern 128 connectors but can be adapted to customer requirements.
Field Lighting Systems & Distribution Kits
The field lighting and distribution equipment is a system designed for use on a 240 or 110 volt AC supply to provide lighting and small power in temporary buildings, tents and mobile environments. The system is ideal for both military and civilian requirements.
Available in 10kW, 3kW and 1½kW units. The 10kW has an input socket of 40A capacity and outputs of 40A for series feeding of further distribution units and 3 13A outlets.
Complete kits are available comprising connection cables, plugs, sockets, lampholders, 40/60W lamps, shades, earth rods, hooks, handlamps etc, and packed in boxes for field use. (Details available upon request)
240/24-24v AC/DC 20 Watt Penthouse lighting kits are also available comprising: 240v input lead, 24v battery lead, 5 gripper lights and interconnecting cables packed in a box.

Smith & Prince Ltd. has extensive experience in the manufacture of wiring harnesses, vehicle installation kits for the defence industry.
Harnesses range from single-core for heavy-duty or light-duty, to multi-way complex assembles. Many harnesses are manufactured to NATO and fighting vehicle part numbers.
All types of junction and distribution boxes can be supplied to meet customer's requirements or specification. The items illustrated are supplied for use in fighting vehicles.
